Are you also versatile and genuinely concerned about the customer, society and the user – and ready for new challenges? Then this could be the next step in your career!

Become a part of our Environmental Department

COWI is an international consulting engineering company with around 7500 employees, of which approximately 1300 are in Norway. We work closely across COWI's professional environments, which helps to make us an industry leader in environmental consulting. Our customers are from both the public and private sectors, and our employees contribute to projects across divisions and geographies. COWI has framework agreements with large state-owned enterprises such as Bane Nor, Avinor, Statnett, Nye Veier, Statens Vegvesen and Statsbygg.

Our environmental department consists of 100 highly skilled employees, located all over Norway. We now need to expand our environmental team with up to several new employees during the year.

With a wide range of projects, both in terms of size, complexity and professional content, you get to work on exciting and challenging tasks together with other skilled colleagues.

You will have a pivotal role in innovative projects and the opportunity to develop your skills

The person we are looking for is capable of organizing tasks and understands the need to coordinate multiple environmental subjects and projects and has a good understanding of the complexity that lies in safeguarding environmental interests in both large and small construction- and infrastructure projects.

Among the tasks that may be relevant are:

  • Contaminated site investigations and preparation of restoration plans
  • Material inventory mapping of buildings and constructions
  • Material re-use and utilisation mapping
  • Environmental monitoring of water and soil
  • Assist in, or carrying out environmental risk assessments in our projects
  • Keep track of, and coordinate progress and environment and sustainability deliveries within our projects
  • Life cycle analyses, material and resource assessments with regard to circularity

You should have specialist knowledge in at least one of these subject areas, as well as an interest in and ability to develop competence in several of the other environmental subjects. Experience from state-owned enterprises is considered as an advantage.

The characteristic of many of our projects is that they are multidisciplinary, large and of great importance to society. With a wide range in both size and professional content, you will therefore have good opportunities to work on exciting and professionally challenging tasks together with other skilled colleagues.

With COWI offices all over the country, we are open to adapting office locations according to your wishes, but it is currently particularly desirable to expand our offices in Oslo and Fredrikstad.

Your skills. Our team. Together we design the future.

To thrive as an environmental consultant with us, it is important that you are collaborative, sharing knowledge within the organisation – this is an important prerequisite for us at COWI. You are good at creating good customer relationships, you take initiative, and you take pride in completing your assignments as agreed with the customers. You are solution-oriented and have a high level of integrity in your professional work.

On top of that, you will have:

  • Relevant education at master's or bachelor's level
  • Good Norwegian presentation skills both orally and in writing, as our reports are mainly in Norwegian
  • Category B driving licence, as some fieldwork must be expected

We are looking for both experienced and less experienced people, as long as you can bring the right skills and motivation to the environmental subjects. At the same time, it is important to us that you recognise COWI's values and strategies around sustainable development.

We value differences and development and cultivate an environment of belonging and having fun. Because that is what brings out the best in you, at work and at home.

With offices primarily located in the Nordic region, the UK, North America and India, we are currently more than 8,000 people who bring their skills in engineering, architecture, energy and environment into play.

What we also offer:

  • The opportunity to build up your skills with exciting projects
  • Good opportunities for personal development through a personal development plan, COWI Academy and the COWI Connect mentoring scheme
  • National and international collaboration across organizations and disciplines. We have approx. 70 different professional networks in COWI
  • An active company culture with social and athletic activities and company cabins
  • Flexible working hours with a home office arrangement, five weeks holiday and time off between Christmas and New Year
  • A separate community called "Young in COWI" for employees under the age of 34, where social trips and events are arranged
  • Finally, a good working environment. It is important for us to be generous and stand up for each other. Which is also reflected in our well-being and employee surveys
