Project director Health
COWI is an international consultancy within engineering, architecture, energy and environment. Together with customers, we co-create sustainable and beautiful solutions that improve the quality of life for people.
Do you thrive on collaboration and creating value with customers? Can you lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects to successful delivery? Do you bring project management experience in the health sector? If so, this role could be your next big career step.
Driven by customers. Powered by innovation.
We are looking for a Project Director to join Buildings and Industry – Healthcare in Norway. You will join our team of multi-disciplinary Project Managers and play a key part in the collective leadership of one of our Buildings and Industry execution units. As Project Director, you will unite our vision - “Together, we shape a sustainable and liveable world”- with our operational goals of customer-centricity, motivated project teams, and operational excellence. You will collaborate closely with clients and stakeholders to create solutions that align with COWI’s Future Now strategy, with a strong emphasis on sustainability, innovation, and digital transformation. You will also connect and collaborate with colleagues across our international engineering design centres to leverage global expertise.
In this role, you will draw on your network to help COWI realise its ambitions in this sector, while taking the lead on some of our most high-profile and impactful projects. Your work will center on key sectors including health, process, pharma, and logistics. We work alongside our customers on some of Norway’s most significant projects in pharma/healthcare. And we are thrilled to contribute to projects like Nye Stavanger Universitetssykehus, Sykehuset Østfold Kalnes and Innlandet Sykehus, Bispebjerg Hospital in Danmark and NLSH Island. Our Buildings and Industry unit also deliver projects in various industries, including pharma, defense and research centers.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Lead and manage large, complex, multi-disciplinary projects across all phases.
- Drive active customer engagement and dialogue, supporting strategic business development and tender management in the health sector.
- Contribute ideas and recommendations to enhance project management practices and HSEQ systems.
- Oversee contract execution while ensuring alignment with project constraints.
- Lead and coordinate all project stakeholders, and actively participate in steering committees.
- Communicate complex technical concepts with clarity and precision.
- Share knowledge and experience with peers to foster continuous improvement.
Your skills. Our team. Together we design the future.
The first step to success in this role is that you are eager to collaborate with the people around you, whether they are colleagues, partners or customers. Developing ties with others is something you do by acting respectfully and delivering on your promises. And you never get set in your ways, but keep exploring new insights and ways to improve.
On top of that, you will have:
- A relevant educational background in engineering or another relevant field.
- Extensive multi-disciplinary project management experience in the health sector.
- A proven track record in conducting mega projects.
- Experience in project management standards and methodologies such as PMI, PRINCE2, or IPMA including certifications.
