BUILD OUR BRAND
COWI is an international engineering and architectural consultancy firm with leading positions within energy, infrastructure, buildings, water, and environment.

Your primary tasks will be to lead our local communications team, establish a strong collaboration with local management, and promote and protect our brand in Norway among customers, decision-makers, partners, and talent.
You will get support and cooperate closely with highly skilled communications colleagues across COWI as well as with local market and HR leaders.
ADVISE THE CEO
As Head of Communication, you will act as a trusted advisor to the Executive Vice President (EVP) of COWI’s Norwegian business line and the rest of the management team.
Moreover, you will spearhead the development and execution of our local communications plans and daily communication activities for our growing business in Norway, counting more than 1,400 employees.
The Norwegian communications team is part of our global coms team with more than 50 specialists reporting to our global Head of Communications with a dotted reporting line to the Norwegian EVP.
You will also join our group-wide Communication Leadership Team.
DEVELOP THE STRATEGY
Your day-to-day tasks include:
- Leading the local communications team consisting of four highly skilled colleagues.
- Advising, assisting, collaborating with, and supporting the EVP as well as the rest of the Norwegian management team.
- Contributing to the development of COWI's group-wide initiatives, aligning local plans with group priorities, and leading the application in the local context.
- Developing, leading the execution, and measuring the impact of local communication plans and initiatives.
- Identifying, developing, training, and supporting thought leaders in our business.
- Improving employee engagement and developing our employer brand.
- Analysing the effects of communication activities to develop the team, channels, and solutions.
- Writing and editing compelling speeches, presentations, briefs, etc.
To succeed in this position, we believe that you should be a team player with excellent networking skills, the ability to prioritise, set a clear direction, to work and lead in a structured way, and be proactive.
Furthermore, you should:
- Hold a degree in communication, journalism, or other relevant field of study
- Have more than 8 years of experience, preferably from another international company or agency, and more than 3 years’ experience as a leader.
- Have a strong understanding, ability, and willingness to manage multiple stakeholders in a sometimes complex setting.
- Be experienced in engaging colleagues and leading projects and initiatives across functions and borders.
- Have a profound understanding of markets, business dynamics, employee engagement, and leadership communication.
- Be well-versed in proactive media initiatives as well as crises communication.
- Be able to develop or grasp concepts and translate them into concrete briefs, presentations, articles, and SoMe posts.
- Be fluent in Norwegian and have excellent English skills.
