EXTEND YOUR POTENTIAL WITH A GLOBAL TEAM OF EXPERTS

We are looking for a Director of Contract Management (DCM) to join our contract management team to lead and manage the contract management (CM) core functional processes at the Business Line (BL) level; namely contract administration, commercial (change) management, document management, planning/programme management and claims management (related to claims by COWI).

You will oversee all projects in the BL, with focus on high and very high-risk projects (or any other as directed by the BL leadership) and advise project and senior management on ways to manage, mitigate and improve on commercial risks.

As the functional lead to all BL CM staff you will need to be proficient in all functional services delivered by the Contract Management Department (CMD), however, you are expected to be a subject expert in the services performed by the contract managers/administrators and commercial managers as stated below.

Some of the typical responsibility of a project contracts/commercial team is to:

  • Identify deviations to scope or terms of the contract and process changes in line with the contract, raise notices when required in line with contract timeframes, ensure variations are correctly valued and notified, claims are properly notified and particulars for claims submitted frequently.
  • Ensure all deliverables under the contract are delivered within the prescribed timeframes and all letters are drafted in an objective and contractually correct manner whilst avoiding subjective and inflammatory language to avoid unnecessary conflict.
  • Advise the PM and project team of pertinent contractual and commercial issues and risks.
  • Conduct frequent commercial meetings with the client's commercial teams and close out variations as soon as possible.
  • Ensure that any event that impacts COWI’s bottom line is properly recorded and reflected in staff timesheets.
  • Conduct periodic contract awareness courses to relevant staff on the projects.

YOUR SKILLS. OUR TEAM. TOGETHER, WE DESIGN THE FUTURE

To do well in this position, you need to have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. You'll also pursue new insights and constantly explore new and strategic ways to improve, while respecting our clients, your colleagues, the local community, and the planet we live on.

As the functional lead to all CM resources in the BL, you will, in collaboration with Line Management, interview and select the best CM candidates for the projects and ensure they deliver the expected level of quality in the provision of CM services. Moreover, you will mentor and serve as a sparring partner to the BL CM resources, conduct their performance reviews and PDP’s, and jointly work with PM’s and PFM’s in improving COWI’s CM capabilities.

As the Director of CM, you will report to the SVP of the Group Contract Management Department as your functional lead and directly to the BL EVP for day-to-day operations, priorities, and delivery of services by the BL CM teams.

Furthermore, you will have:

  • BSc or a master’s degree in any engineering or construction disciplines, QS/Cost Engineering or Legal. Preferably with active professional membership(s) in relevant professional bodies
  • More than 15 years’ experience working for contractor or engineer/designer in contracts administration and commercial management with at least 7 years in a senior management position. Preferably someone who previously worked in a medium or large size design organization engaged in international projects
  • Experience in working through a full project delivery cycle (from proposal to project close out)
  • Able to undertake client-facing presentations/negotiations with senior corporate leadership
  • Possess great leadership skills and experience in managing teams
  • Excellent IT skills (MS Office)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. You are fluent in English and Danish/Scandinavian language
