To further build and cultivate this important discipline of Pollution, we are looking for a Head of Discipline to join our team. We are 22 skilled employees working alongside our customers on some of Norway’s most significant og exciting projects, like for instance Bybanen, SUS, Arna-Stanghelle and Bodø Lufthavn. We are also proud to have contributed to projects across Norway from Kirkenes to Lista. You will be responsible for professional development in your discipline and have a commercial mindset in order to maintain a competitive team of employees.
Turn challenges into sustainable solutions
To lead our discipline for Pollution in our newly established Executive unit Water and Environment, we are looking for a Head of Discipline to join us. Environment numbers 100 people and is at the forefront of the value chain in our customers' journey towards a more sustainable future. The department has grown organically with 10-15 persons a year to meet internal demands and to support our clients with our expertise in contaminated sites and buildings, waste handling, circular economy and regulatory aspects and plays a vital role in executing on COWIs strategy FUTURE-NOW, delivering these services on projects within all our prioritized sectors.
As Head of Discipline, you will be the day-to-day people manager of a team of 22 dedicated environmental advisors.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Lead and role model according to COWI's leadership behaviours and values
- Well-being of your employees and ensuring a good working environment
- Facilitating personal development for your employees
- Evaluating need for new hires and consequently hiring process
- Coordination with the other Head of Disciplines, market and project directors and Vice President
- Project management or specialist input to projects
You will be part of the department management team – and you will have 4 other Head of Disciplines and a Technical director as your closest colleagues and peers. You will report to the VP, Head of Engineering Environment.

On top of that, we expect that you already are:
- Preferably an experienced leader of others, but also project management experience can be relevant
- Experienced with aspects of the Pollution, contaminated sites or other
- Minimum bachelor level in geology, environmental studies
- Well versed with working in consultancy where quality of services, customer needs and engagement of colleagues go hand in hand
- Fluent or minimum B2 level Norwegian or other Scandinavian languages, oral and written
