Head of Discipline - Roads, Kristiansand
COWI is an international consultancy within engineering, architecture, energy and environment. Together with customers, we co-create sustainable and beautiful solutions that improve the quality of life for people.
Do you want to lead some of Norway’s top road planners – while shaping the sustainable societies of the future? Are you an engaged and unifying leader passionate about both people and the profession? Do you want to play a key role in developing Norway’s most important transportation projects? Then this is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.
Become Head of Discipline at COWI – where expertise, sustainability, and human values go hand in hand
As the leader of one of our most central technical groups within road planning, you will have responsibility for developing both employees and the professional environment. You will lead a strong team of around 25 advisors and project managers who create forward-looking solutions in transport and infrastructure every day – with projects like the Fornebu Line, Bergen Light Rail, and E39 Mandal–Blørstad among your credits.
With us, you will get:
- Personnel responsibility and the opportunity to influence strategic competence development
- A central role in tendering and marketing efforts locally and regionally
- A national leadership network with close collaboration and professional community
- The possibility to work actively with technical tasks – if you want to
Your role – more than leadership
This is not just an administrative leadership position. It is a role for you who want to combine professional expertise with relational strength. You will have the freedom to shape the direction of your team and contribute to the bigger picture – both locally and nationally. Your initiatives will be crucial for well-being, development, and quality in our deliveries.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has higher education in transportation or a relevant technical field
- Has at least 7 years of experience in road planning, design, or project management
- Can motivate, inspire, and develop the people around you
- Has business insight and interest in market and tender processes
- Communicates well – both in Norwegian and in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Previous leadership experience is a plus but not a requirement. If you have project management experience and ambitions to become a leader, we also welcome your application.
Your expertise. Our team. Together, we're shaping the future.
Like us, you believe that leadership success comes from setting a clear and meaningful direction for your team and supporting them in taking ownership of their work. You delegate responsibility and ensure an open and safe dialogue, and you coach your team to achieve their aspirations through constructive, fact-based feedback. Attracting and nurturing a diverse group of high-potential team members is at the top of your agenda, as is creating an inclusive, caring and trusting culture in your team.
