We are looking for an in-house legal counsel to join COWI Norway. Preferably based at our office in Oslo and reporting to the Head of Legal, COWI Norway and Sweden, you will provide legal support for COWI Norway within COWI Group’s central legal function, "Group Legal”.
Group Legal comprises 35 team members across Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Dubai, the UK, and Canada, providing comprehensive legal services throughout the COWI Group. As in-house legal counsel in Norway you will be part of a legal team in Norway and Sweden of five lawyers and be a strategic partner to the leadership team in Norway, collaborating closely with the senior management on a variety of legal matters essential to advancing COWI’s goals.
On a day-to-day basis, your tasks will include:
- providing legal counsel to the senior management, particularly in construction and consultancy law
- provide legal counsel, together with Group Legal, in areas like corporate law, competition law, public procurement, intellectual property (IP) rights, and data protection (GDPR)
- preparing, reviewing, and negotiating various agreements, particularly in large projects
- legal support for ongoing projects
- managing disputes and complaints, both internally and in coordination with external lawyers
- conducting legal training in various areas of law and further developing templates, tools and processes

On top of that, you will have:
- a Norwegian master’s degree in law
- solid experience from a law firm or as an in-house counsel, preferably specializing in the consulting and construction industries, contracts, public procurement and business law
- knowledge of and practical experience with standard contractual terms in the consulting and construction industries, such as NS 8401, NS 8402, NS 8405, 8407 etc. or the similar
- solid experience managing disputes, especially in the early stages with a solid business understanding and the ability to communicate complex legal matters to stakeholders
- ability to convey information effectively in English and Norwegian
