Hydro Aluminium Metal is a leading supplier of extrusions ingots, sheet ingots, casting alloys, wire rod, and high-purity aluminum with a global production network of approximately 5,000 employees. We have recycling plants in Europe and the US and primary metal production plants in Europe, Canada, Australia, Brazil, and Qatar. Two-thirds of our primary aluminum production is based on renewable energy.

The aluminum industry is working towards a circular low-carbon economy. Hydro Aluminium Metal (AM) is experiencing strong growth in its recycling business, and we are now looking for a CAPEX Buyer – Recycling.

Procurement in AM is responsible for the procurement of goods and services for operations and investments at our smelters and recycling plants. The unit is also responsible for the development of procurement processes, methodologies, technology, and system support. There will be close collaboration with category leaders for Recycling, Foundry, and CAPEX, as well as tight cooperation with our technical environment, project department, and individual plants.

Responsibilities

The position involves the execution and management of procurement processes for various projects. As a project buyer, you will have full or partial responsibility for deliveries to both new plants and modifications and developments at existing ones.

  • Establish procurement strategies, market assessments, specifications, prequalifications, and request for proposals in close collaboration with the technical and operational teams
  • Lead the tendering process from RFI to RFQ
  • Evaluate, negotiate, and award contracts
  • Follow up on contract deliveries and contribute to supplier development
  • Support and advise project teams and the organization
  • Take responsibility for developing and improving the procurement process for projects and CAPEX to best practices 

Desired Qualifications

  • A master’s degree, preferably in a technical and/or economic field, or alternatively, significant relevant experience
  • Solid experience in procurement, supply chain, and/or project management, preferably in a project based environement
  • Experience with contracts and standards
  • Interest in systems and digital development
  • Strong overview and the ability to manage complex processes with many stakeholders
  • Proactive team player who builds relationships
  • Good documentation and anchoring skills
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Norwegian 

Who are you?

You are solution-oriented with strong implementation skills, and you can navigate and build relationships in a large and complex organization. A commercial orientation and an interest in technical equipment will be an asset, and you thrive in a hands-on role. 

Additional Information

The position is based in Oslo and will involve some travel. Our recycling plants are located in Europe and the USA.
