We are now looking for a motivated Railway signalling engineer, who can contribute to the further development of our services, both professionally and market-wise. COWI has a very strong position in Norway within transportation and urban development and is experiencing a high demand for large development projects. The Transportation division consists of about 70 employees within railway disciplines, who are proud to offer a professional and well-balanced working environment. In the coming years, we will be collaborating with many of the industry’s most ambitious clients, contractors, and consultants on projects such as the Bybanen Bergen, Fornebubanen, Hamar station including new Thales Signalling System, including several other projects in Norway and abroad. In this position, you will become part of our global team of experts. You will collaborate closely with good colleagues and the Head of Discipline. You will be responsible for designing and lead design processes in signalling projects that typically include changes to existing facilities or design of new facilities.

Furthermore you will :

  • Design and lead design processes for the Railway signalling discipline, including interlocking, control, and signalling infrastructure, ensuring compliance with relevant standards (e.g., IEC 62236, EN 50126, EN 50128).
  • Conduct interdisciplinary design with other railway technical fields
  • Provide technical guidance and support during the design, implementation, and commissioning phases of projects.
  • Ensure that all signalling activities comply with industry safety regulations, quality standards, and company procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including technical specifications, project reports, and compliance records.
  • Coordination with project management in larger projects concerning time budgets, progress, and other planning
  • Have overall responsibility for completing deliveries according to agreed progress and quality
  • Give professional input in tendering work

Furthermore you should have:

  • A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in relevant fields such as Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Control Systems, Computer science, mathematics, or cybernetics. Documented experience and results can compensate for a lack of formal education
  • Preferably minimum 3 years of experience in Railway signalling as designer, contractor 
  • "Signalfag for ingeniører" from Norsk Jernbaneskole, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in relevant engineering tools and software (e.g., CAD, project management software).
  • Familiarity with Bane NORs processes for signalling systems
  • Good communication skills in Norwegian or any Scandinavian language

COWI has customers and projects that may require security clearance at various levels. There may therefore be requirements for security clearance in some projects/positions.
